Out with Old, In with the New License Plates
|<sigh> I had to bit the bullet this month and resign my beloved Connecticut license plates. I keep telling myself that it had to happen but I have to admit it is the last little piece that proves I lived there.
Well, okay, if I am being honest I am also going to miss what that CT plate did for me out here in the sticks. I would watch people's reaction as I drove past them with a plate from a state so far away. People would actually watch me drive by. Once when I was sitting in the parking lot before a sporting event a fan from the visiting team actually stopped in front of my car and stared at the plate for like 15 seconds. Then looked up and saw me sitting in the car and moved on.
Driving down the country roads and through the streets of towns, I was paranoid that I would get stopped by a cop for my out of state plate. I won't miss that. But it also allowed me to have the mentality that other drivers may forgive any stupid moves because I was from out of state. I liked to imagine them saying "she must be lost." <hehe>
But now I am just another car on the road. I guess I will have to adjust.
And oh, yes, I blurred out my new plate so you don't go reporting my crazy driving. I may be an Oregonian but I still have my Connecticut paranoia.
I hear you there on the crazy driving. Its so wried not driving 45 thru town.
and this makes me a little sad because it probably means you are not coming back…
Connecticut paranoia? I must have lost that in the 15 years I have been in Arizona. Great post as always!
